Turn that Dremel rotary tool into a drill press with this rotary tool workstation from Dremel. The station accepts several Dremel models to drill perpendicular and angled holes in 15-degree increments from 90 degrees vertical to 90 degrees horizontal. Inch and metric markings on the base make for accurate drilling of workpieces. Depth markings with depth stop provide consistent depth adjustment, while the sturdy metal base with four clamping points holds workpieces securely in place. The workstation also holds the rotary tool steady for other tasks, such as polishing metal objects, sanding different shapes and grinding metal pieces--with greater precision and less fatigue. The station's telescoping shaft allows adjustments to any height between 16 and 29 inches. On-board storage for drill bits, cords, and wrenches keep them all in handy reach. --Brian D. Olson

 "Worst. Assembly. Instructions. Ever." 2010-09-21
By Elizabeth Tolbert (Saint Paul, MN)
I bought this workstation to use as a drill press for my crafts business. I consider myself relatively handy and intelligent and the instructions could not have been more worthless. Bad graphics, poor wording. I was able to "successfully" assemble it only after lucking out at the local hardware superstore where they had a Dremel demo last weekend. The nice guy running the demo took one out of the box for me and helped me set it up. He agreed the instructions were, uh, lacking. Also recommended that I use plumbers' tape to fix the wobbliness of the tube assembly. Overall this piece is useful but it's also a big disappointment. C'mon Dremel, you can do way better.

p.s. The packaging and such may not list it, but this *does* accommodate the Dremel 4000 Series.

 "Misleading and Poor Quality" 2010-09-18
By Grant Mason (San Diego, Calif. USA)
This product says that it will fit a Dremel 395. My problem is that the Dremel I am in possession of is a model 395 circa 1984. The Dremel I have has a different body style than the current 395's and will not fit the drill press. I can understand this mistake but it would have saved me time and money spent to know this detail. As for the press itself it is definitely of budget construction. The assembly is pretty simple but that is after you interpret the poorly written and skimpy instructions. All-in-all you get something that should be priced around $40.00 and in today's world that is not saying much. The old Dremel in my possession is still going strong after 26 years; I don't think this drill press will have much worth after the same amount of time except as scrap metal and plastic.

this iem is really versatile and well built, but the only problem i've found is that it aint as "tight" as it would appear, when you use it as a drill press the tip of the drill may go a few milimeters sideways when it touches his objetive

 "Dremel Work Station Review" 2010-07-21
By Thomas M. Hubisz (Saugus, Ma, US)
I recently purchased a Dremel workstation. The project of the moment required me to use it as a drill press, with the help of a home-made jig. I found the tool to be excellent, except for a tendency for the bit to wander when the wood grain was uneven. This, even though I used a brad point bit. The fact that the tool holder allows deflection, may cause the serious craftsman to seek a more expensive/precise alternative.

 "A dream to use" 2010-06-15
By PenMangler (alabama, US of A)
I bought this saw at a local woodworking store while it was on sale a few weeks ago. I had been using a Hitachi CW - 40 which works well for a low end saw, but the DeWalt is a horse of another color - Bright Yellow! Now, the nuts and bolts: QUIET and vibration free. Big smooth table, easily trued after making angle cuts. The blade tensioner is right there in front and stays where you set it. Likewise, when you re-clamp the blade, just bring it to the tension number you had it on and it stays there. Easy, EASY blade changes. The wing clamps hold the blade by hand tightening alone. I haven't had a blade slip out of the clamps yet. The stand is a must. The rear leg will adjust up or down to give you the table angle that is comfortable for your use. It is fairly tall, but a regular workshop stool will put you at the right height, making it comfortable to work with. The blower is powerful and clears away the dust. It too stays where you place it and it is easier to bend and position that I have found on the other saws. The hold-down clamp works fine, but like most scroll sawyers, I don't use one and I removed it.

This is an expensive saw for the average woodworker, but it is well worth the extra cost. Solid, quiet, smooth, quality workmanship and durablity. You can't go wrong.

 "do not buy" 2010-04-28
By Leo Black
I bought this saw less than a year ago. With less than ten hours on it, the motor burned out. Dewalt told me to take it to a service center which I did. They replaced the motor, but after getting it back I have problems with the saw stopping in mid cut! To make matters worse, I t will not hold a #2 blade in the bottom blade holder. I use Olson blades, and after ruining a dozen, I called Dewalt again, and once again they told me to take it back for repairs. Since the closest repair facility is 50 miles from where live, this is an uneeded time and expense to me. To make matters worse, the service person I talked to told that was " A fragile machine "! I have been scrolling for 15 years, I bought this to replace a Delta 16 inch that finally died. Funny how I never once had to take it in for repairs in all thse years!!!!!

"Great Saw, Some New Views" 2010-04-03
By Ronald Edwards (Gardena, CA United States)
I've had the saw with the legs and light for several weeks now. I got the Mobile Base with it as well in order to move around my shop with ease. The saw set up easily, and I had it up and running right out of the box. The Legs took about 45 min to assemble (see my review). The saw had considerable knocking at high speeds, above 6 (1450). I found a fix at [...]. It was also the fix DeWalt recommended. I spent an hour or so making the adjustment. Also, I filed down the bottom rounded side of the Lid. See a drawing of the parts that can be downloaded from DeWalt or [...]. Follow the instructions there. It helps as well. It now is running with no knocking at 8 (1750). DeWalt put in a fix for this in 2009, and it is there now, so they say. My manufacture date was Feb 2008. I bought the saw, stand, light at Grizzly for considerably less than Amazon had. I have also added a dust collector ( Seyco at [...]) for $25, and the footswitch from Woodcraft for $18. I nearly bought an Excalibur, but the price differential was too much to ignore for my use. I am really satistfied, and learned a lot by disassembling the front end of the saw. I have hooked the Seyco collector up to my Festool Dust Extractor, footswitch, and saw, so now when I push the footswitch the saw and vacumn come on, or off. Does a great job. A great addition to my shop, and a replacement for my old Dremel.

RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS SAW AND ITS PERFECT FOR MY NEEDS. MY CONCERN WAS VIBRATION FROM A DELTA BIG STORE SCROLL SAW. I GOT INTO A PROJECT THAT I WASNT ABLE TO SCROLL FINE PARTS, BECAUSE OF THE VIBRATION. THIS SAW IS PRACTICALLY VIBRATION FREE AND IS A BREEZE TO OPERATE. I HAVE NEVER USED A PLUS $1,000 SAW BUT FOR ME ,THIS IS THE IDEAL OF SCROLLING.

ONE SUGGESTION, I LOVE AMAZON,BUT THE SAW ,STAND AND LIGHT WAS $480.00 TOTAL AT GRIZZLY.COM.,DATED 3-2010

"Best Value For The Price" 2010-03-13
By G. J. Doremus (Florence, KY)
I first bought this scroll saw 12 years ago. I am an avid scroll saw hobbiest - one of those guys with scroll saw projects on shelves all over the house. After 12 years of constant use I wore the machine out. I was looking at replacing the blade chuck assembly and rotating parts that had worn loose over time. Since so many parts needed to be replaced to make the saw feel new again, I took the easy way out and replaced the whole saw. I consider myself to be at the expert level when it comes to scroll sawing. It's the only woodworking tool I would make that claim about. After reviewing more expensive saws I realized there is quite a price gap between models. If you look for a more "capable" or "professional" model, the next price range is near $1500. That's a lot more than the Dewalt and I believe the extra cost doesn't buy you a thousand dollar better saw.

I think the biggest selling point about the quality of this saw is that I was willing to replace it with the same model, despite the fact that my skill level is greater than it was 12 years ago. Simple projects, Intarsia, Christmas ornaments, Portraits - I can do everything I want to do with this machine. I'm still happy about my decision to stick with this machine and not move up to a more expensive model. If you are new at scroll sawing, the Dewalt will keep you satisfied as your skills progress.

 "Great Scroll saw" 2010-02-06
By Ben Worrell (Texas)
Dremel lives up to it's legacy for nice precise products.

This saw works great especially with sharp blades. Add a light for visibility and a blower or vac to keep things clean and it is first rate!

Several years ago I worked with a friend using his "brand new budget priced" saw, I recall it was very hard to make clean cuts even with new blades. Could of been the wood or that the blades he had were not meant for that wood.

I paid a little more for this saw but it is now 10 years later, Couldn't be more pleased with it.

Purchased it to cut a pine wood derby car. When the saw arrived I made several test cuts on rough 2x4 material, until I knew I could cut nice clean lines. Cutting the Pinewood Derby car blank was like cutting butter!

I could of paid more but don't think I would of gotten a better saw for my purposes.

Before ordering it I read a bad review for this same saw on another site. That reviewer needed a band saw for their project not a scroll saw!

When I ordered this saw off of Amazon, I used the free shipping option, and expected it to take the advertised week+ from Georgia (I think was the location). Boy was I shocked to check the Tracking number and find that it was already on truck for delivery to my house 2 days after ordering!

Personally my only Complaint is not having enough time in the shop to use it!

By snapthecat (NC)
I have sent my Dremel scroll saw back for repairs for the second time--same problem both times. It simply self-destructs. All of a sudden it makes a loud hammering sound for no apparent reason. The tech. said it was the eccentric which makes the arm go up and down. Anyhow, Never again will I buy a Dremel produce. Although they repair the things free it is still not worth the hassle and expense of sending it back (two times at $24.00 a pop my expense. I will sell this one and buy something that will work.
